The planet Mars retrogrades every two years and two months, approximately every 687 days. The time of retrogression is between 55 to 80 days. You can feel it a few days before and a few days after.

When a planet is retrograde it appears to be moving backward in the sky from the perspective of the Earth. Of course, the planet is actually continuing its usual orbit, and the retrograde effect is a type of optical illusion. Perspective is so important in astrology, and retrograde planets do correspond to recognizable meanings.

Mars is the planet associated with the warrior archetype. It is therefore the planet we look to when we want to know about assertiveness, aggression, determination, and action.

Mars doesn’t go retrograde very often, and during this time of retrogression you’ll feel a lack of energy. Relationships are not in the best place during that time. This affects all zodiac, but the effect will be different on each sign.

It is a poor time to begin a new job, most journeys you being during this period will not last long. People are more aggressive. You will need to be more conscience of your surroundings, be particularly careful when driving.

The irony is this: We have the drive to start new things impulsively, but our lack of vision is poor. We are moving through our impulses, but the truth is that we don’t have the right judgement, and we can make mistakes. Waiting is good for this period of time. Even though our energy is booming, you must remember that it is only internal energy!

Our attention is brought to something, but that doesn’t mean we should act on it, at least not as permanent change of direction in our lives.

People with strong planetary placement in their signs can feel the effect much more strongly, and we will all feel it more in the houses affected by the retrograde.

Mars retrograde is similar to Mercury retrograde in many respects, but Mars is associated with action, projects, and energy required to make something succeed. Mars is backdoor politics rather than direct confrontation.
